The Workshop · 2026

Two pieces, to begin.

Each one engraved by hand. Each one made for a particular man, at a particular moment, by someone who knows him.

The Khartoum Compass — solid brass with engraved lid, open on a marbled blue background showing the dial and sundial.
№ 01 · The Khartoum Compass

The Khartoum Compass

Solid Brass · Sundial · Working Compass · 60 mm

A working sundial-compass in heavy solid brass, with a hinged lid engraved on its inner face. Weighted to sit comfortably in the hand. Named for Khartoum — the city at the confluence of the Blue and White Nile, where the river divides and the map runs out.

For the man whose direction is, finally, his own. The new business. The first morning of the new chapter. The decision made alone.

The Marrakech Flask — vintage English leather-mounted glass hip flask with a silver cup, resting on antique sheet music.
№ 02 · The Marrakech Flask

The Marrakech Flask

English Leather · Hand-blown Glass · Silver Cup · 6 oz

Leather-mounted glass, with a fitted silver drinking cup that slides over the body. Engraved on the silver collar with up to four lines — a name, a date, the line his mother said. Named for Marrakech — the red city south of the Atlas, where the road slows down and the man at last unscrews the cup.

For the first morning of the new thing. For the quiet evening after. For the flask in the coat pocket that reminds him, when the doubt comes, that someone who loves him already believed he could do this thing.

  • Hand-blown glass body, leather-mounted
  • Plated silver collar & fitted drinking cup
  • Engraved on the silver collar, up to four lines
  • Supplied in a fitted gift box with letterpress card
  • Hand-engraved in our Melbourne workshop

The Engraving

Up to four lines, in your own words.

We will engrave the piece with whatever you ask us to engrave. A name. A date. A place. The line his father said. The phrase that means nothing to anyone else and everything to him. We will not edit it. We will not improve it. We will set it in the brass or the silver, by hand, as if the object had always carried it.

The first hundred get a letter.

We are opening the workshop to a small number of clients this season. Leave your name and the piece you have in mind. We'll write to you when it is ready, with the engraving form and a quiet note from us.
